Iran Lut desert enjoys memorial stamps

A memorial stamp sheet to showcase Iran Lut Desert, as the first Iran natural site registered in the UNESCO world heritage list, has been unveiled.

Owing to its geographical significance, memorial stamps of the Lut Desert have been published with emblems of UNESCO World Heritage and Iran Cultural Heritage organizations as well as the Lut Desert logo on a sheet of stamps.

Director for the Lut Desert Base Ms. Zahra Rezaei Malakuti announced on Sunday that in these stamps pictures related to the desert can be seen.

Inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List, the scorching Lut Desert is a salt and sand area of situated in northeastern Kerman Province.

Otherwise known as Dasht-e Lut in Persian, the natural heritage site, rich in grand scenery and unparalleled serenity, has much to offer to travelers who are in search of new adventures.    

It has also been named as one of the most scorching places in the world by NASA with the hottest surface temperature reportedly recorded in 2005 at 70.7 degrees Celsius.
